Why anyone checks
Practising a regulated profession in Colorado without a current licence is unlawful, and the Department of Regulatory Agencies publishes this register so the public can check. The largest types here are Registered Nurse (92,890), Certified Nurse Aide (50,426), Cosmetologist (34,051), Professional Engineer (32,769).
⚠️ A licence number alone does not identify anyone
Colorado numbers are sequential within a licence type, not across the register. Number 1 exists many times over: a pharmacy technician, an acupuncturist and a plumber can all hold it. Searching a bare number here returns every match, with the profession against each — which is the honest answer, and the one DORA's own tool gives.
The renewal calendar nobody publishes
Colorado does not renew on the anniversary of a licence. DORA fixes one expiry date per licence type — often with an odd or even year parity — so every holder of a type renews the same day. Cosmetologists together, engineers together.
That calendar exists inside a 344-row table of codes and is published nowhere as a calendar. Here it is: month by month.
Where this site stops, deliberately
13,925 of these active licences carry a disciplinary action. DORA publishes the action and a case number, and no reason at all — the two most common entries statewide are a stipulation and a letter of admonition, which are agreed outcomes rather than findings of danger.
So no page on this site names a person alongside an action. The counts are published, because a rate describes the system. The detail appears only on an individual entry, built in your browser, with no address a search engine can reach. The whole reasoning.
